Christine Maxwell worked as a middle school teacher in Oxford England in the 70s’. It was while teaching that she came up with the idea to write a dictionary that her own students could use even if they did not know how to spell. Ms Maxwell wrote the first edition of the spelling dictionary in 1977. Over the years, she received endless requests for a reprint from parents and teachers which finally encouraged her to seek out a new publisher. Ms. Maxwell has subsequently written one of the very first Internet Yellow Pages published by Macmillan publishers in 1994 and was co-founder and creator of the MAGELLAN online directory and guide featured on the Homepage of Netscape in the mid 90’s. She now lives in France. |
